Dreams are commonly taken only for face value. Many people chalk-up weird or scary dreams as random coincidental accidents. Dreams are not coincidental at all. Each of these strange mind-movies are responses from daily life. They are solutions to much of everyone’s inner turmoil. Objectives for these designs were focused on highlighting the strange weird elements of dreams. Each illustration is created with a series of folds or varnishing in mind. Viewers of this project were intended to have lots of interaction with the final print in either lifting folded forms or pulling out entire spreads.
Filtering Reality’s concept is in presenting dreams as solutions to designer’s problems. A common figure throughout the design is a shadow figure who represents the super ego of the inner mind. He provides guidance to the questions raised by the headers. The focus is on using bizarre elements with odd compositions to provoke the dream world.
